Caring for Your Heart Rate Sensor Bands

Updated on Jul 31, 2025

Polar H10 Chest Strap Care Guide (Default with HeatSense Kit)

The Polar H10 chest strap, included with your HeatSense Kit, is a gold-standard ECG sensor designed for precision heart rate tracking. Proper care helps ensure long-term reliability and accuracy.

Cleaning the Strap

  • Detach the sensor from the strap before cleaning.
  • Rinse the strap under running water after every session to remove sweat and salt buildup.
  • Hand wash with mild soap every 5 uses to maintain conductivity and prevent skin irritation.
  • Do not machine wash or dry.

Cleaning the Sensor

  • Wipe down with a soft, damp cloth—especially around the contact points.
  • Do not submerge or apply cleaning chemicals to the sensor module.

Drying and Storage

  • Air dry flat—do not wring out the strap or expose it to heat sources.
  • Reconnect the sensor only when both parts are fully dry.
  • Store in a cool, dry place; avoid damp gym bags or tightly sealed containers.

COROS Bicep Band Care Guide (Optional Accessory)

The COROS bicep band is a comfortable, optical-based heart rate option compatible with HeatSense. If you prefer an armband over a chest strap, contact HeatSense for guidance on which COROS model best supports your setup.

Cleaning Instructions

  • Wipe the band with a damp cloth after each use.
  • Hand wash with mild soap and cold water when needed. Avoid harsh detergents.
  • Do not machine wash or dry the band.

Drying Tips

  • Air dry completely before storing. Lay flat or hang in a ventilated space.
  • Avoid direct sunlight or heat to prevent material warping.

Storage

  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Avoid folding tightly or compressing the band to maintain elasticity.

General Tips for All Bands

  • Never use alcohol, bleach, or abrasive cleaners.
  • Inspect regularly for fraying, corrosion, or cracked components.
  • Routine care extends sensor lifespan and maintains data accuracy.
