Weather Comparisons across Apps

Updated on Sep 25, 2025

If you are like many people, you use different resources to look at the weather in your area.  You may also compare the weather in one app versus another and wonder which is more accurate.

The weather and WBGT measures published in HeatSense have been validated using data from multiple countries around the globe across the span of 10+ years. The mean difference between measured on-site data and the estimates from the HeatSense app or team dashboard is 1°C.

In comparison, NOAA (weather.gov) reports a mean difference of approximately 3°C (5.4°F) when looking at HeatSense, primarily because they rely on satellite data and use a more simplified method for calculating WBGT.

The HeatSense approach combines ground weather station data with satellite observations for improved accuracy.
