Pairing Your HeatSense Sensors

Updated on Sep 24, 2025

How to Pair HeatSense Devices for Accurate Readings

To get the most accurate and reliable insights from HeatSense—including personalized heart rate zones and performance insights—it’s essential to pair your devices correctly and complete your profile first.

You can also watch our video on how to pair your HeatSense app with sensors

1. Complete Your Profile

  • Open the HeatSense app and tap the menu icon.
  • Go to Account and enter your Date of Birth (DOB).
  • This is required to calculate your personalized HR Max and heart rate zones.

2. Prepare Your Devices

  • Download the latest version of the HeatSense app.
  • Update your HeatSense thermal sensor’s firmware if prompted.
  • Fully charge your sensor.
  • Shake the HeatSense thermal sensor—blinking green lights confirm it’s active.
  • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.

3. Pair the HeatSense Sensor

  • Open the HeatSense app.
  • Go to the menu and tap Device Management.
  • Select Add Device and choose your HeatSense thermal sensor (Bluetooth name includes “HeatSense”).
  • If it doesn’t appear, tap Rescan.

Tip: A device ID will appear at the end of the Bluetooth name "HeatSense XX:XX". Should other athletes be pairing sensors near you, the last four digits of the DeviceID you are using can be found on the back of your HeatSense Device to ensure you are pairing your device.

4. Pair the Heart Rate Monitor

  • Ensure you’ve added your DOB under Account before continuing.
  • Return to Device Management and tap Add Heart Rate Monitor.
  • Select your heart rate monitor from the list (e.g., “Polar”).
  • If not visible, tap Rescan.

It may take a few rescans, do not worry

Bluetooth connections for any device can be tricky in the beginning so don't worry if you have to Rescan a few times.

The HeatSense team has heard feedback the heart rate monitors are the hardest to pair. Tips:

  • Don't be afraid to rescan several times
  • For the Polar Chest Strap, the BLE connection works best when the chest strap is worn
    • Moisten the electrode area of the strap, fasten the strap around your chest, and adjust the strap to fit snugly. More about wearing the strap here
    • Make sure the sensor is properly attached to the strap.
  • If the BLE scan is still not working:
    • Try disconnecting and reconnecting the actual sensor on the strap (it snaps on and off)
    • Try replacing the CR2025 battery in your heart rate monitor and reconnect the device after replacing the battery.
  • Once connected, the data takes a few minutes to calibrate.
