Are the HeatSense Sensors Waterproof?

Updated on Sep 25, 2025

HeatSense integrates with multiple sensors, and each has a different level of water resistance. Here’s what you need to know:

HeatSense Thermal Sensor

  • Waterproof rating: The HeatSense device is waterproof and can be submerged up to 1.5 meters.
  • Accuracy note: Core temperature accuracy is not guaranteed underwater.
  • Care after water use:
    • Rinse with clean water and mild soap after activity.
    • Disinfect with 70–75% alcohol if needed.
    • Do not use acetone or 100% alcohol—these can damage the medical-grade plastic.
  • Design advantage: The magnetic charging cable keeps the device closed/sealed during use.

Polar H10 Chest Strap

  • Waterproof rating: Fully waterproof; designed for swimming and water sports.
  • Data transmission: Tracks heart rate underwater using 5 kHz transmission, or stores data for later syncing with a compatible device or the Polar Beat app.

COROS Bicep Strap

  • Water resistance: Rated to 3 ATM; suitable for wet weather conditions.
  • Important limitation: Not designed for swimming or water sports; does not store data for post-swim syncing.
  • Care after wet use: Allow the strap to fully air dry before next use to reduce risk of skin irritation.

Quick Summary

  • HeatSense Thermal Sensor: Waterproof to 1.5 m; underwater accuracy not guaranteed.
  • Polar H10: Fully waterproof and swim-ready; can transmit or store heart rate data.
  • COROS Bicep Strap: Water resistant for rain/sweat; not for swimming.
